Tiger track & field defeats Wapahani

SELMA — The Hagerstown High School girls and boys track & field teams moved to 3-0 apiece on the season with dual meet wins over host Wapahani Monday evening.

The Lady Tigers claimed eight firsts in outpacing the Raiders 75-48 while the Hagerstown boys earned 12 firsts to post an 89-34 advantage over Wapahani.

The meet’s top female performer was the Tigers’ Camryn Bradway, who won both hurdle races and anchored both the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Dylan Napier claimed four blue ribbons for the Hagerstown boys with wins in the 400, high jump, long jump and 4x400 relay.

Other multi-event winners for the Hagerstown girls included Ashley Vinson, Abby Hill, Jessica Swimm, and Hallie Rogers. For the Tiger boys, Holden Robinson, Logan Tuttle, Alexander McKee and Blake Blevins won at lest two events.

For the Hagerstown girls, its 4x800 relay team of Anna Shafer, Jewels Warfel, Ella Nicholson, and Logan McRoberts was second; Bradway placed first (17.3 seconds) and Abby Dale third in the 100 hurdles; Shafer finished second in the 1600; the 4x100 relay team of Hill, Swimm, Vinson, Bradway was first (55.4 seconds); Rogers placed first (1:09) and Lynsie Compton third in the 400; and Bradway finished first (57.9 seconds) and Ella Warvel second in the 300 hurdles.

In addition, Nicholson was second and Warfel third in the 800; Vinson placed second and Swimm third in the 200; Shafer finished second and Maci Matanich third in the 3200; the 4x400 relay team of Rogers, Hill, Compton, and Bradway was first (4:56); Swimm placed first (4-10) and Dale second in high jump; Swimm finished second and Rogers third in long jump; Kaelynn Shultz was first (31-2) and Laney Adams second in shot put; and Kassidy Oliger placed second and Adams third in discus.

For the Tiger boys, their 4x800 relay team of McKee, Adam Nadler, Kaleb Slagle, Logan Tuttle was first (8:32); Robinson placed first (16.3 seconds) and Hensley third in the 110 hurdles; Robinson finished second in the 100; Slagle was second in the 1600; the 4x100 relay team of Hunter Marshall, Branton Payne, Kristion Bates, and Gage James placed first (47.8 seconds); Napier finished first (54.5 seconds) and Jaylon Favorite second in the 400; and Robinson was first (42.2 seconds) and Seth Richards third in the 300 hurdles.

Also, Tuttle placed first (2:05.6) and McKee third in the 800; Payne finished first (24.5 seconds), Bates second, and Jack Linderman third in the 200; Slagle was second and Eli Halcomb third in the 3200; the 4x400 relay team of McKee, Napier, Tuttle, and Robinson placed first (3:40.3); Napier finished first (5-4), James second, and Richards third in high jump; Napier was first (18-2.5) and James third in long jump; Blevins placed first (42-0), Locke second, and Luke Coffman third in shot put; and Blevins was first in the discus (119-6).

Hagerstown hosts Winchester today.
