The Henry County Heart Society recently awarded four AEDs. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can potentially stop an irregular heart beat (arrhythmia) and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest.

The Mooreland Police Department, Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department, Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Department and Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation received the AEDs.

Donations to the Heart Society are used only in Henry County to help provide cardiac equipment and training on a local level and can be mailed to HCHS, PO Box 490, New Castle, Indiana 47362.
