Heart health partnership has positive results

Henry Community Health and St. Vincent Heart Center’s working relationship continues to offer cardiology expertise in New Castle where St. Vincent cardiologists see patients at Henry County Cardiology.

“Our community has outstanding local cardiology care and access to one of the largest and most comprehensive heart hospitals in the Midwest thanks to our collaboration and partnership with St. Vincent Heart Center,” said Paul F. Janssen, president and chief executive officer of Henry Community Health.

While many cardiology services are available locally at Henry Community Health and Henry County Cardiology, patients who need more complex cardiovascular care have seamless access to St. Vincent Heart Center, which has been named as a Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital for the seventh year.

“Our partnership has been so successful we are in the process of expanding office space for Henry County Cardiology to accommodate the continuing increase we see in patients needing cardiac care,” Janssen continued.

St. Vincent Heart Center also is an annual co-sponsor of Henry Community Health’s Affairs of the Heart, which draws over 500 women from New Castle and surrounding areas. This year’s event will take place Feb. 22. See a story in Sunday’s Neighbors pages of The Courier-Times for more information about that event.

As one of the largest and most comprehensive heart care programs in the Midwest, St. Vincent Heart Center also is among the most decorated in the nation.

For the seventh time since 2006, the St. Vincent Heart Center has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals, according to the IBM Watson Health 50 (formerly Truven Health Analytics) Top Cardiovascular Hospitals 2018 study. In addition, the Heart Center is the only cardiac hospital in Indiana to earn a five-star rating – the highest for quality – from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
