Opal LaVina Beck

Opal LaVina Beck, age 90, a former New Castle resident, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018.

She was born July 13, 1927 in Knightstown, IN, a daughter of the late Dora and Anna West Leisure.

She was a New Castle resident most of her life and a graduate of New Castle High School.

Opal was a moneymaker and a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Plainfield Indiana Bible Church.

Mrs. Beck had worked for C. A. P. for several years and she will be remembered as a Christian Lady who always had her heart open for anyone in need.

She truly lived out the scripture John 13 verse 14 “to love one another”. 

Left to cherish her loving memory include a daughter, Pamela J. Coffey, New Castle, a son, Mellis (Deborah) Beck, Avon, five grandchildren, Michael Coffey, New Castle, Monica Coffey, Indianapolis, Tracy (Peter) Morisco, Garfield, NJ, Ivan (Dechen) Beck, Avon, and Elliot Beck, Avon, two step grandchildren, Tiffany (Daniel) Monroe, Chicago, Rick Scalzitti, Avon, four great grandchildren, Cody Coffey, Indianapolis, Matthew, Madison, and Marc Morisco, Garfield, NJ, a brother, Orie (Scottie) Leisure, Lumberton, TX, a niece, Darlene Mason, New Castle, and a nephew, Hal Leisure, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin Wayne Beck in 1989 whom she married September 2, 1944, also 11 siblings, Hazel, Winifred, Margaret, Max, Bob, Ty, Roll High, Mellis, Ross and Hal. 

The funeral will be at 1pm, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev Kevin Kottke officiating. 

The visitation will be from from 11am to 1pm Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services. 

Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
