New Castle Little League Sign-ups

New Castle Little League Baseball has announced its procedures in preparation for the upcoming 2018 season. All youths who will be age six before Sept. 1 will be allowed to play this year.

There will be three leagues this season: Minor League with pitching machine for those ages 6-8; Minor League with youth pitching for those ages 7-11; and Major League for those ages 9-12.

Sign-ups will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Parker Elementary School, Thursday, Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Blue River Valley Elementary School, and Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Parker Elementary School.

Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, March 4 at the Old New Castle Armory. Those ages 7-8 will try out from 1-2:30 p.m., those ages 9-10 will try out from 2:30-4 p.m., and those ages 11-12 will try out from 4-5:30 p.m. Those at age 6 don’t need to try out.

Boys Basketball

North Decatur 56, Knightstown 53

The host Panthers rallied from a 34-19 halftime deficit Saturday night and outscored the Chargers by 12 points after intermission, but fell short by three points.

Knightstown was led in scoring by Jarred Porter with 18 point and Jose Olivo had 12 points.

The Panthers play tonight at Southwestern (Shelby).

Jr. High/Middle School Girls Basketball

Hagerstown 49, Knightstown 14 (8th)

The 8th-grade Lady Tigers defeated the Panthers by 35 points on Saturday.

Grace Klein led Hagerstown with 12 points, followed by Madelynn Ward 11, Carli Cox eight, Marissa Slagle six, Tori Kelley four, and Bethany Castle, Lauren Retherford, Taylor Pass, and Shyanne Vinson with two apiece.
